Before leaving I had called our insurance man who told me I didn't need additional insurance, so I told him no. Then he asked me if I wanted the additional insurance. While on our trip, I saw most stations had gas for $3.79-3.89 a gallon. So I agreed again to get him off my back. Then he told me gas in Vegas is $4.50 a gallon, their fee is only $3.50 a gallon so basically I was stupid not to get it. Then he told me to get the prepaid gas option. So I was forced to pay to "upgrade" to a 4 door car when that was what I paid. How is a 4 door and a 2 door in the same category? My reservation was for a 4 door 5 passenger car. My son is 6'6, he would not fit into that, so I was forced to upgrade. The gentleman told me we were getting a smart car. My confirmation email says Hyundai Accent or similar. When I got to the counter, the man helping me was ruthless, a jerk and literally forced me into upgrades. I WAS RIPPED OFF!!! it was almost an hour wait to get our rental car. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. That was more than our flights!!!! RIPPED OFF!!!! THAT IS RIDICULOUS! In the end I was charged $297 OVER my original agreed upon booking (which was already $550), for a total of $850 for a 5 day rental. It was an awful experience, I felt used and completely ripped off. I honestly felt threatened into buying the additional insurance that I didn't need. The man ONCE AGAIN started belittling me, telling me I was crazy not to get it and that if I got into an accident, even if it wasn't my fault, and the care was not drivable, I would be charged $300 a day while the car was in the shop and would be out thousands of dollars. We didn't mention the 1500 unaccepted charge on our credit card but when we did at the survey the car company sent us by e mail few days later, they never replied nor said a word about it. When we got back to BUDGET RENT A CAR LAS VEGAS to return the car the lady was surprisingly kind and did the paper work in 30 seconds without any problem. Four or five days on the rental we received a message from our bank telling us about a 1500 US dollars charge from a mexican airline company which we had not done and we had to spend one afternoon calling to our bank in Mexico (citibank) to refuse that charge which it took like two weeks to solve. When she asked us for our credit card she took it and typed down the credit card number and the safety numbers in the back in her computer which we were surprised to see. So we read to her the paragraph where it said it covered the LDW. The lady at the counter, who spoke our language (spanish) questioned about our credit card LDW coverage and ask us for proof about that which we had printed out beforehand but when handled it she said it was not written it in there. We had made a reservation on the internet well in advance and had got a very good bargain for a week-car rental and we only wanted to purchase the liability insurance because our credit card explicitily covered de LDW.
